Employment Security Program Representative

 

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) has currently requested to open the Employment Security Program Representative, Spanish Speaking Option.   As a result, CMS is opening the Employment Security Program Representative title, for all options, for testing.

 

This position requires an automated multiple-choice examination that will be administered throughout the week of Monday, March 3 Thursday, March 6, 2008. 

 

***Minimum requirements must be met in order to participate in this examination.***

An Accounting and Fiscal Administration Career Trainee participates in an agency sponsored training program of six to twelve months, receiving work assignments designed to develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills consonant with the various professional accounting or fiscal administration career disciplines within a state agency. Additionally, the incumbent would receive controlled assignments in a specific phase of an agency’s operation, involving the completion of practical work tasks of increasing difficulty and responsibility.

The minimum training and experience required for this title is a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 12 semesters hours in accounting. Positions are located statewide, although not all are vacant and available at this time. Contact the department to inquire about specific locations. Pay starts at $2771 per month and also includes a generous benefits program.

The Employment Security Program Representative - Intermittent works in a consolidated employment security office and among other things, assesses client services needs; takes and processes routine, complex and special claims; conducts benefits rights interviews and clarifies eligibility factors; adjudicates contested benefits claims issues, provides routine eligibility determinations; provides referral, placement and follow-up services on available job orders; processes and extracts data using and automated data system; and refers clients with complex issues and services needs to appropriate office staff. The minimum training and experience required for this title is completion of four years of college of the equivalent such as supervisory experience. An Information Services Specialist I will perform, after an appropriate amount of classroom and on-the-job training, applications programming at a working level. Additionally, they will design the logical flows and procedures within the program to accomplish the assignment in the best way which combines cost efficiency (minimal use of computer time) and flexibility.

 

Hardware and software environment is IBM 3090, MVS COBOL EAYTRIEVE PLUS, IMS DB/DC, DB2 CICS. Training and experience required for this is the equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Positions are locates in the central office at 33 South State Street in Chicago. Pay starts at $3212 per month and also includes a generous benefits program.

5.  If you received anything other than an "A" grade, you can

     take the test again after 30 days.  And continue to take

     the test until you get an "A".   B's and C's sometimes are

     considered.
