Second historic "March" takes place in Chicago.

the first historic march took place in Chicago for immigrant rights. The entire immigrant immunity united to support

immigrant rights and advocated for passage of the  DREAM Act for undocumented students and lay down a path to citizenship for their parents - -  reunite families that have been separated by our broken immigration laws - unite as a nation and say no to  anti-immigrant racism and backwards

legislation like H.R. 4437, the Hastert/Sensenbrenner bill--it is time to register to vote to be heard.

United States Hispanic Leadership Institute's 24th Annual National Conference will be held at the Sheridan Chicago.

Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus the llinois Legislative hosted its 3rd Annual Conference at the Rosemont convention Center, in Rosemont, Illinois

IAHSE will held its 18th Annual Hispanic State Employees Conference, at thePalmer House Hilton, in Chicago.  

 

August 4, 2005,     

The Hispanic Business Expo took place at Navy Pier, highlights included on opening Breakfast, Ribbon cutting, Exhibit Area and Training Sessions. Sponsored by the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce created a partnership with the City of Chicago's Commission on Human relations Advisory Council on Latino Affairs to conduct the largest Hispanic business Development event in the Midwest.

The Chicago Professional Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) will be holding its 4th Annual Summer Picnic.  At Bemis Woods,   Grove 2 & 3, at Wolf and Ogden, in Western Springs, IL.

Street, in Fairmount, Illinois.  The Mexican

Consulate will also be present providing services.

The Hispanic State Law Enforcement Association (HISLEA) will be holding a safety fair, in AURORA.  Located at Fox

Valley Park District, 150 West Illinois Ave., Aurora, Illinois. Fom 10:00am-00pm.     

 

May 11, 2005,          

IAHSE hosted its annual Capitol Day Reception, in Springfield, at Boones Saloon just Southwest of the Capitol.

 

 

  

 

On May 5-6,

the Illinois Association of Agencies and Community Organizations on Migrant Affairs hosted its annual conference in Springfield's Crown Plaza.  

 

April 30, 2005,

Salcedo Press hosted its annual May Day Bash.

 

April 29, 2005, 

a Scholarship fundraisier took place in honor of Hilda Lopez, a former IAHSE president who died a few years ago.  Funds will be used to provide annual scholarships to students. The event will take place at UIC.   


March 10, 2005,
The Latino Council on the Media hosted its annual conference at the Hilton Chicago.  The Latino Council on the Media has advocated for  inclusion and advancement of Latinos in the newsroom.  

March 10-13, 2005,
The 23rd National Conference of the U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute took place. The conference had dynamic speakers, hands-on workshops and thought- provoking forums specifically geared towards leaders in political, labor, corporate, and educational spheres.
 

February 19, 2005,

Concerned Community Organizations and Latino

State Employees held an open dailogue with the Latino Caucus and other invited guests regarding Latino State Employment and other issues that affect the Latino community

 

On February 16, 2005, the Governor presented his State Budget Address in Springfield.

 

On February 5, 2005, the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus hosted a Veteran's Job Fair at Northeastern Illinois University  

 

On January 6, 2005,

IAHSE hosted the Fiesta de Reyes Celebration at Lazos Restuarant.   

 

                      

 

On Friday, December 10, 2004, 

the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus hosted its 2nd Annual Conference at McCormick Place South, Hyatt, in Chicago.    

 

                   

 

On November 19, 2004, the Illinois Latino Legislative Caucus

held follow-up hearings with the Departments of corrections, Children and Family Services, Public Aid, Illinois State Police, State Merit Baord at the James R. Thompson Centre, in Chicago

                       

On November 2, 2004, 

"Election Day,"  voters elected 2 Latinos as U.S. Senators, one from Colorado and the other from Florida.  Great News!

Latino Education for the Advancement of

Democracy (Project LEAD) hosted a special reception honoring "Latinas in Leadership."  Project LEAD is a non-profit non-partisan organization

 

On October 19, 2004,

a celebration in honor of Judge Leida Gonzalez Santiago was held at the Lazo's Tacos, 2009 N. Western Avenue, in Chicago.

 

On October 16, 2004,

National Latino AIDS Awareness Day,The Midwest Hispanic Health Coalition held a March, Forum and Health Fair.  The Kick-Off began with State Rep Susana Mendosa, at 9:30am,  at St. Pius Church, going to Harrison Park where a forum was hosted by Congressman Luis Gutierrez, followed by a health fair hosted by the Binational Health Week.         

 

On September 28, 2004,

the Illinois Latino Legislative Caucus held a follow-up hearing with the Departments of Central Management Services, Transportation, Human Services, and Employment Security, starting at 10:00am to 2:00pm, at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 West Randolph, in Room 16-503, in Chicago. 

      

On September 16-18, 2004,

the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Conference

was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in Chicago.     

                               

On September 4, 2004,

Hispanic Illinois State Law Enforcement Association HISLEA)

held its Annual Awards Banquet, at the Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace.    

 

On July 8, 2004,

IAHSE's Luna Cabana NightIAHSE hosted a fun filled night of networking and dance  with a live band, at the Adler Planetarium  & Astronomy Museum's Luna Cabana, in

 Chicago. In the picture above you can see  the Salsa lessons taking place. The  Orquesta Billy Rivera played that same  evening.  The event was co-sponsored by IAHSE and HISLEA.
